Founded in 2015 by Owyn Porter and Laurie Moffitt, The Happy Sea has been quite the ride. The Happy Sea was founded in the small little beach town of Fernandina Beach, Florida, on the basis of sustainability, color, and a true zest for life.
Owyn has always loved the ocean, her first word as a baby was "beach." By the time she was 4 years old she had it set in her head that she wanted to be a marine biologist when she grew up to study the whales. Long story short, she went on to attend college in 2013 at Florida Atlantic University and discovered by the end of her freshman year that Marine Biology was not going to work out. Math and Chemistry were not her forte. After multiple hours on the phone with her mom, Laurie...The Happy Sea was created.
It has been quite the ride since 2015 when The Happy Sea was created, Owyn now spends her time running the brand, hanging out with her dog Koast and traveling around to new places. Laurie runs her shop Color it Green full-time located in Fernandina Beach that includes gifts that give back to multiple organizations, American made products, and local artists.
